As a Students’ Union we have been appalled, saddened and angered by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. We condemn the violence and war crimes the Israeli Government is committing in Gaza  and call for an immediate, sustainable ceasefire that recognises the full rights of the Palestinian people. We also call for Norwich University of the Arts and the UK Government to support an immediate, sustainable ceasefire that recognises the full rights of Palestinian people.

 

In light of the increases in anti-Palestinian, anti-Muslim, antisemitic and anti-Arab racism and attacks in the UK and internationally, it is of utmost importance to remember: None of our Palestinian, Israeli, Jewish, Muslim, or other student communities are responsible for the actions of the Israeli state or of Hamas. Racial and faith-based discrimination in all forms should be opposed and rejected and we as a Students’ Union are proud to stand against all forms of discrimination.
