Democracy at Norwich Arts SU
Democracy within the SU allows students to make change at the Union, and the University. Recently, we have made it easier for this to take place and there are multiple ways to make change. At the bottom of this page you can find the SU's byelaws, which dictate how our democracy works. You can also find our Constitution, which outlines the way the Union operates; the Constitution is a legal document that explains things like governance or liability. These documents are long, so we have simplified them into quick guides on how you can make change.
There are several ways for you to get more involved in SU democracy and making change:
There are two President positions at Norwich Arts SU, which are paid and year long positions. The election for these occurs every March.

The Presidents are the SUs political leaders, and represent the student body and lobby the University for change as well as running their own campaigns to positively impact the lives of students.
Be a President
There are thirteen Part Time Officers who are volunteers and current students. They are elected for a one year term and cover various remits. For the full list, see byelaw ten. PTOs are elected annually in March or Octob

PTOs run their own campaigns with support from the SU and lobby for change at University. They also sit on the Councils

Be a Student Rep
Each year group on each course has Student Reps who represent the voice of students in meetings with course staff and the University. All reps are invited to sit on the Education and Representation Council and are voting members. Reps can also run their own campaigns.

Reps are elected annually in October for one year terms.
Having said that, anyone can attend a Council meeting but only those listed in the Byelaws as voting members can vote.
